Calligraphic Studies (1978–2009)
These "calligraphic" works, a continuing project throughout John Yang's career, were taken mostly in preserves, parks and sanctuaries — pockets of wilderness — in and around New York City.
Gold-toned P.O.P, or D.O.P. contact prints, 8" x 10".
"Yang's incredibly detailed contact prints of wooded preserves recall the spirit of Atget. They are delicate, airy and poetic; where the wind blows branches into blurs, you feel it on your skin." — Andy Grundberg, The Soho News, February 1981.
