Taken in an Orthodox Jewish cemetery in Maspeth, Queens, New York, “Sepulchral portraits” refer to miniature portraits once placed on many of Mount Zion’s tombstones. What remains of them — and what they have become — is the subject of these photographs. Book published in 2001 by D.A.P.
