John Yang, Photographer; A great loss to the photographic community
After some years of illness, John Yang has died of cancer at 76 at his Manhattan home in New York. Educated as an architect and being successful in that field, his childhood dream however was to be a photographer. He relentlessly persued that craft with 35mm to 11x14 view cameras. With his architectural precision, he excelled from darkroom to a finished , mounted & framed print. Thru his life he remained a freelance photographer and left us landscape and nature images of memorable quality and impression. Besides his work being presented in various museums and private collections, John had 2 exhibits at my Underground Gallery and I am fortunate to own some of his prints. I will never forget his calm, unpretentious and generous character. He will always have a special place in my heart and thru his images he is still with us.
